From Home in Bunny Slippers: Creations from a Community in the Weirdest Year Ever is a collection of creative work compiled by the Chocolate Church Arts Center. The book reflects the ways in which communities across Maine (and friends from away) responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges of 2020, and found catharsis through the act of creation.

It contains submissions from professional artists and musicians (Lady Lamb, Schooner Fare, Renuka O’Connell, Denis Boudreau), as well as amateur creators, community groups, house painters, infants, and more. You’ll find paintings, poetry, essays, songs, and puppet shows.

From Home in Bunny Slippers is a testament to the resilience and creativity of a community coming to terms with a truly bizarre time, and speaks to the ways in which arts of all sorts provide an outlet during difficult times. The charming entries on each page will make you laugh, cry, reflect, and give thanks. All proceeds from purchases of the book go to supporting the mission of the Chocolate Church Arts Center – supporting and fostering the arts in its community, and preserving and protecting its home, the former Central Church, built in 1847.
