Boxty – Boston’s Premier Irish Folk Band
Since their formation in 2015, Boxty have become one of Boston’s most renowned Irish folk bands, electrifying audiences across New England with their powerful mix of tradition, modern influence, and irresistible energy. Founded by Dublin-born singer Cormac Marnell, Boxty was born from a passion to keep Irish folk music alive while reimagining it for today’s audiences.
Blending beloved Irish folk classics with the spirit of contemporary legends like The Saw Doctors, The Pogues, and The Waterboys, Boxty create a sound that’s as authentic as it is fresh. Their high-energy performances engage crowds of all ages, bridging the gap between traditional fans and new generations discovering their music for the first time. With their deep love of storytelling through song, the band also draws from the rich well of Americana and Roots music, covering favorites by John Denver, Johnny Cash, The Band, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Steve Earle.
Boxty have graced nearly every major Irish festival and cultural event in New England, and their resume includes unforgettable shows at Fenway Park during the Hurling Classic, multiple collaborations with the New England Revolution at Gillette Stadium, and performances at premier venues such as the House of Blues Boston, Plymouth Memorial Hall, and Boarding House Park in Lowell. They’ve shared stages with celebrated acts including The Saw Doctors, Trampled by Turtles, and The High Kings.
Their music has reached beyond the stage as well—Boxty was featured on Stephen King’s hit Hulu series Castle Rock, further solidifying their reputation as one of Boston’s most exciting folk acts. Beyond performance, the band is proud to support their community and is a regular partner of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Whether playing to festival crowds, stadium audiences, or intimate gatherings, Boxty bring passion, joy, and a spirit of togetherness that embodies the very best of Irish folk music—alive, evolving, and unforgettable.
