Step into the hidden world of rural EMS with Counting Pebbles, a powerful new performance by the Faultline Ensemble that revels in honesty, healing, and human connection. This original play explores the emotional terrain emergency medical responders navigate every day—from trauma and burnout to resilience, camaraderie, and hope.
After responding to a fatal overdose of one of their own, rural EMTs and paramedics question the repetitive trauma and stress of their work. Based on EMS provider stories gathered across the U.S. from 2016-2018, this play grapples with the unique challenges faced by emergency medical responders.
Counting Pebbles weaves together narrative, physical performance, artwork, and storytelling to create a moving, immersive experience. Created in collaboration with Turning Point Wellness, the Code Green Campaign, and Mutual Aid Disaster Relief, the play invites you not just to watch, but also to listen, to reflect, to honor. Every performance is followed by discussion, making Counting Pebbles more than theater—it’s a space for recognition, transformation, and renewed hope.
