Counting Pebbles: A Soulful Journey Behind the Sirens
Step into the hidden world of rural EMS with Counting Pebbles, a powerful new performance by Faultline Ensemble that revels in honesty, healing, and human connection. Touring to ambulance stations and theaters across the East, this site-specific show explores the emotional terrain emergency medical responders navigate every day—from trauma and burnout to resilience, camaraderie, and hope.
Inspired by real stories collected from first responders nationwide, Counting Pebbles weaves together narrative, physical performance, artwork, and storytelling to create a moving, immersive experience. Following fatal overdoses, repeated critical incidents, and constant pressure, this piece doesn’t shy away—it meets the darkness, but also celebrates the strength, community, and purpose that draw people back again and again.
Created in collaboration with Turning Point Wellness, the Code Green Campaign, and Mutual Aid Disaster Relief, the show invites you not just to watch—but to listen, to reflect, to honor. Every performance is followed by discussion and workshops focused on mental health in first responders, making Counting Pebbles more than theater—it’s a space for recognition, transformation, and renewed hope.
